Twins
In a house
In a forest
In a world that wasn't my own
I slept
With a man
Who was my mother's son

We were like
Hansel and Gretel
But the witch had gone away
From that house
Of sugar candy
And we ate all day

We opened
A narrow doorway
And we walked right on through
No one there
To tell us
What to do and what not to do

We looked
In a mirror
And we liked what we saw
His eyes
Were my eyes
His hands were in mine

There are many myths of twins who balance each other out and complement each other, sometimes sexually. The Egyptian Isis and Osiris were said to have mated whilst in their mother's womb. I wrote most of this song years ago and came back to it recently because it seems to have some real power.
