The Wrong Man
He is the wrong man
In the right place
At the right time
He has the wrong mind
But the right mask
And the right lines
If you go with him you'll never return
If you go with him he'll never learn

He is the wrong man to have near
When you are low
And your fever is high
He will shout
Storm your gates
Leave you under siege
If you think of him he'll never return
If you think of him you burn

Oh let him go, don't let him take you
Let him go, don't let him take you in

You are a good man
In love with the wrong man
In the wrong time
You have a good heart
A heart that's innocent
A heart that's blind
If you stay with him he'll toy with you
If you stay with him he'll destroy you

This song was inspired by Oscar Wilde's De Profundis: a letter he wrote to his lover Alfred 'Bosie' Douglas whilst incarcerated in Reading Prison. I imagined the pain and dread Wilde's friends would have felt, watching the development of that disastrous relationship and knowing that there was nothing they could do to keep Wilde from the man who would be his downfall.
